Hell in a Cell

Mick Foley reports on his official Facebook page that Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte for the WWE RAW Women’s Championship will main event the Hell in a Cell PPV on October 30.

Here is the official statement on Foley’s Facebook page:

Sasha vs Charlotte main event HIAC

“Forget for a moment about Stephanie McMahon’s jumping high-five or my awkward attempt to hug the #RAW Comissioner. The biggest moment of the night for us came when the #WWE cameras were off, and Stephanie and I just looked at the #HIAC poster, realizing that for #WomensWrestling, history is upon us – as Sasha Banks and Charlotte will main event the #HIAC PPV. I am so happy for Sasha, for Charlotte, for all the women who paved the way, and all those who aspire to follow in their footsteps. It is no exaggeration to say that looking at that poster gave me chills…and they were multiplying.”

  1. This is awesome! I remember a year ago thinking womens wrestling was dead in the wwe. I am so happy they pulled their heads out of their asses and seen the possibilities!
That said im scared for the match because they are both crazy women! They are going to either completely kill it or completely kill each other. Either way 2 weeks seems a long time and the anticipation might kill me.

  2. This is great news!! It DESERVES to main event…….

Is this the first time ANY women’s match as every main evented a PPV???

  3. This is history. I still go back and watch Sasha Banks and Bayley back at the first Takeover Brooklyn show. I can’t get enough of that match. Both of these women deserve the honor.

  4. This moment will be etched in WWE history and is truly breaking ground for a new era of women’s wrestling. These two have already cemented their names with the greats of this industry in female competition by breaking this new ground. Congrats to both and I hope to see them tear the house (or Cell) down

  5. I just want to see a post-match spot with Nia Jax ripping off the cage door and laying out the champ (likely to be Sasha Banks).

  6. For a true PPV yes, but there have been Women’s main events on NXT events, RAW, and special main roster cards such as The Brawl to End it All (Wendi Richter vs Fabulous Moolah for the original WWF Women’s Championship at MSG on July 23, 1984). This match was the first non music event ever shown on MTV and to this day remains the highest rated program MTV has ever aired.
